John Collins

John Collins

John is an experienced accountant and business adviser having acted over a number of years, for many small, medium and middle sized businesses and voluntary/not for profit organisations including a number of sports organisations.

John was a partner in BDO LLP for 27 years but felt recently that the time was right for a new challenge and has now established his own successful and expanding accounting practice in Ayrshire where he has lived for the whole of his life.

Outside of work John is an avid follower of football and in particular Kilmarnock FC. His son Neill currently plays for Tampa Bay Rowdies, while his daughter Nicola is a former Scottish netball internationalist.

The biggest compliment John regularly receives is that whilst technically he is very capable he has the ability to provide pro-active commercial advice in a manner which is readily understandable and conducive to the needs of his client.

Alastair Bone

Alastair Bone

Alastair returned to the profession in 2011 after spending 4 years in "industry" acting as Finance Director for an Ayrshire Hotel Group. From this role Alastair has built up a very good understanding of the challenges faced in industry and is well placed to advise on how to overcome these.

Before joining The Collins Partnership, Alastair was the Manager of the Business Outsourcing & Advisory team for Scotland within BDO LLP looking after clients across all sectors ranging from small sole trader businesses to large multi-nationals. Most notably in this role he headed up the Expert Resource Service provided to Sportscotland.

Of late Alastair has worked on a number of financial modelling projects for clients looking for a variety of financing packages, all of which have been successful. These have come in the form of business expansions, acquisitions and re-banking exercises. As a consequence Alastair has built up great relationships with various mainstream banks together with other finance providers and is experienced in the provision of financial information tailored to their needs.

Alastair is enthusiastic about sport and any chance he gets you will find him on the tennis court or tearing up the golf course, literally!!

Eleanor Watson

Eleanor Watson

Eleanor worked with BDO LLP for 20 years and moved with John in 2013 to The Collins Partnership. She is a fellow member of the Association of Accounting Technicians.

She looks after a wide portfolio of clients from small to medium sized businesses. Many of these clients she has dealt with for over 20 years which gives a great understanding of their individual needs.

Her client work is very varied, from accounts preparation, management accounts to vat returns, payroll, auto enrolment and CIS matters, without forgetting taxation matters too. In particular, growing up on a farm in Ayrshire gives her a good understanding of farm accounts, and not to even try phoning clients at milking times!!

Eleanor lives in North Ayrshire with her husband and young son. Her other passion is volunteering for North Ayrshire Cats Protection, where she has steered the branch from start up in 1999 to a flourishing branch rescuing and rehoming over 250 cats annually, supporting a volunteer team of 30.
